So, you are a recreational golfer who enjoys breathing fresh air, admiring scenic beauty, and basking in the sun - Ask yourself this question: What could undeniably top your golfing experience when you were spending these quality moments? How about a young , cheerful caddie who constantly supplies lavished attention on your game? Deris is definitely a perfect example of this type of caddie.

Since the last days of her training as a caddy at Bogor Raya Golf Club, Deris has not only just been running around with clubs, repairing divots, ballmarks, and raking the sand traps, but also learning the colorful characters of golfers. At her young age, 18, she chooses to be agreeable to any golfer without the slightest hesitation. She wants to keep things simple and keeps moving towards the green. Thus, Deris' pet peeves would be the crowded days. She minds the long wait in the back of the cart, although not anymore recently since she got herself an iPhone 5 to play with when the idle takes too long. Notwithstanding that she has shed tears taking bitter, cynical comments from the worst golfer and smiled over joy from a caddying job done good praised by some generous better.

Deris claims to have gained a high degree of green reading. She is confident to give an accurate countour of the putting surface on every hole. She is also pretty good in giving club selection after observing the player has swung a couple of times. Not bad for a young caddy, huh?

She recently celebrated her 1st anniversary as a caddie at Bogor Raya Golf Club and wishes to celebrate at least a third one there.

Born in Ciomas, Bogor, Deris Ariyanti is accustomed to frequent rain shower  in the Rain City.  The rain, the heat, the sweat will hopefully pay off in the near future. She has been saving up for higher education as she would like to take up finance at Bina Niaga in a few years. Deris wishes to pursue a career in banking once she completes her higher education. Indeed, "A good plan is like a roadmap: it shows the final destination and usually the best way to get there." - H. Adinda - Recognizing Responsibilities

Course Name: Gading Raya
Course Address: Bulevar Gading Golf, Gading Serpong, Tangerang 15826 - Banten, Indonesia
Caddy Name: Adinda (22 years of age)
Rating: Excellent

It was a beautiful Friday morning in Serpong. The time was half past 6 in the morning, we lined up behind a couple of flights (already!) readying our scheduled tee off time. I was paired up with a young, energetic caddy; Adinda, greeting me with a delightful smile on her face, "Selamat pagi, Pak!"

Adinda has been working as a caddy since the past 2 years. She started the caddy job at another nearby golf course, but came to work at Gading Raya after a year because the pay gets better here. "Di Gading lebih rame, Pak", she uttered when asked why she had moved. She likes the caddy job because she gets to meet different people everyday.

Adinda is a Legok local. She completed her high school with IPS major and as soon thereafter, she took up various jobs before landed with the one on a golf course. She mentioned wearing tight sporty uniform daily makes her feel athletic. The sun and sweat are definitely challenging but undeniably enjoyable for her as some of us may feel the same way. As she voiced out her opinion, "Enak, kan, Pak... Jalan kaki, olahraga, bikin badan jadi sehat!" Not only Adinda understands her responsibilities as a caddy to guide the player with hole descriptions, but also give a mental support to the player as needed. She indicated that aiding players with cheer and reassurance besides just carrying out menial tasks on the course tend to help the players more on their games.

One of her pet peeves is when a player doesn't bring his or her own equipment, like, golf tee. It is the player's responsibility to equip themselves with golf tees. On one occasion, Adinda was questioned by a player why she didn't have any tee with her. Being perceptive and helpful, Adinda didn't mind to quickly scour the teeing ground and hand one over. She could easily embarrass the player for not being prepared, but rationally handled the situation with a better move. On another instance, she recalled an amusing experience with a foreign player who carried his own bag on a par 3 because he gambled for the shot and failed to win it. She said the player was overconfident. During her first experience of training as a caddy, Adinda had learned not to be overconfident even and especially as a caddy. Many times, she would be certain where the balls would land. Yet, the distance and size of the trees could be deceptive from afar. She would then search for the ball in a completely inexact location. "Malu banget deh...", as she told the story.

Just like anyone having a regular day at work, Adinda finds her favorite days when she is in a flight where the players bet on the game. While other caddies may find such situation unfavorable, Adinda, on the contrary, enjoys the tension from the situation. She even feels the betting helps her to focus on her work. At times, her favorite day would not turn into her favor when her player finishes a round on the losing side. At one time, one of her players made her feel as if it was her fault, strongly requested Adinda to stop making the slightest noise and move during the play. "Sensi banget gitu, Pak," Adinda jokingly said. However, she claims that she is at the benefit on days when her player is on the winning side - a bonus tips as large as ten times of what she regularly makes can graciously slide into her pocket from time to time.

Adinda is caring, agile, and susceptible to whenever possible avoid different opinions with the players. She aims to keep enjoying the work of a caddy with all different kinds of players for a couple more years. Afterwards, she hopes to meet a nice man to be married with.
